Old Wounds and New Beginnings

I've been meaning to submit this one for a little while now but worried about scanning it (the oils were never quite dry).

Anyway - this is another little self portrait that I put together when I was getting into painting again. It was very spontaneous and rather quick, it only took about a night to complete. The palette use is limited and (at the time) the crimson hues were unintentional (though I later accented them digitally). For me this is a personal piece, I painted it just after coming out to my friends and family - it's sort of a transitional self portrait for me. A retrospective and a hope for the future.

I'll probably go back in and tone down the overlays a little bit - I went a little overboard with the colors in this one.
